A Local's Guide To Ponza: Italy's Secret Island
The location of our Resort 25 Campaign, discover a local’s guide to Ponza, the sacred holiday destination for Italians. Local resident Silvia, whom we met during our time in Ponza, helped us discover the best things to do, places to eat, and must-see sights whilst we visited the island.
WHAT TO DO
You cannot leave Ponza without having taken a boat trip with the Cooperativa Barcaioli Ponzesi; the so-called "double" allows you to take both the Ponza and Palmarola tours with island sailors who will transform into excellent cooks to prepare a pasta to enjoy on the boat and an excellent coffee.
If you love the forest and don't mind walking, you can reach the island of Zannone by boat and enjoy the beauty of the sea and the forest passing by the ruins of an ancient monastery. To reach Zannone you can board with the Cooperativa Barcaioli Ponzesi but also with Il Fauno or Ponzesi Per Scelta. At the end of the walk along the street among shops and small restaurants, it is worth looking out onto the Chiaia di Luna viewpoint to admire the splendid cliff.
A stop at Frontone beach for a comfortable swim, just a few minutes from the port, can be an excellent start to your holiday or a perfect conclusion to your stay. The shuttle service from the port to Frontone and vice versa is active from 9 in the morning to 7 in the evening. You can’t leave without having a lemon sorbet from the kiosk.
Ponza is unique for the variety of colours of its rocks and the infinite shades of its waters, every corner is a small wonder.
Hire a boat and journey half way round the island where you find Ristorante La Marina.Takes about an hour 30-45 mins to get a table while you wait you can have a vino on the rocks! Amazing location and great food.
If the water is flat take a boat over to the small island opposite Ponza. Lots of amazing bays when you're there to swim in. Only one restaurant on the island with an amazing location! Restaurant called Ristorante Francese, has been there for 50 years (they only take cash so make sure you take some with you).

L'Antica Favara, a small restaurant on the main street with genuine and traditional flavours.
Cala Frontone to enjoy homemade products surrounded by nature.
Another stop is Gildo, a pastry bar, for an aperitif or an excellent dessert. I recommend the "frolla", a typical dessert of the Neapolitan tradition.
If you wanted a special meal visit Acqua Pazza S.R.L. for a fine dining restaurant. Food was great and beautiful spot at the end of the port.
