Behind The Brush Strokes: A glimpse into the inspiration and development of the Skye Print.
Come behind the scene with Hannah Buckle, our print designer and creator of the Skye Print, as she shares insight into how the print was inspired by the collections concept, the design process and her favourite silhouettes.
Skye is a bespoke arrangement of hand-inked motifs inspired by ancient greek depictions of shells. The print features three styles, including a mini dress, a maxi dress, and a playsuit designed for multi outfitting options.
What was the inspiration behind the Skye print, and how does it link to the overall theme of the Odyssey Collection?
The shell motifs were inspired by ancient Greek depictions of shells. Carvings and ceramics. Hand painted motifs created in a modern colour palette. It has a slightly 60s reference in connection to the era and the ocean.
Favourite part of creating this print?
I love creating very free and lose paintings - it's fast/rewarding and often creates the strongest ideas.
What was the decision- making process like for the colours and composition within the print?
This print came to life in this colour way. We explored other greens, neutrals, and navy tones.
A vibrant base colour really felt right with the fresh ivory and once the first sample came in we knew it was was a winner!
