Behind The Brushstrokes: The Making Of Our Ciao Print
Come behind the scenes with Hannah Buckle, our print designer and creator of the Ciao print, as she shares insight into how the print was inspired by the collections concept, the design process and her favourite silhouettes.
A bespoke print designed by coastal travel, meet Ciao. Hand-painted by our in house design team, this special print is made up of six feminine silhouettes.
What was the inspiration behind the Ciao print, and how does it link to the overall theme of the Collection?
The theme for this collection is all around nostalgic travel. With this in mind, I wanted to focus on the romantic details that have been lost to technology.
Favourite part of creating this print?
My favourite part of creating this print was definitely being able to lean into that nostalgic travel feeling and using the designs to really be able to showcase that. Passport stamps, postage stamps and vintage luggage tags were a strong inspiration behind this design. The rough sketched feel of this print is symbolic of writing letters home on whilst on vacation.
What was the decision-making process like for the colours and composition within the print?
We chose transeasonal colours for easy styling year-round. The ric rac detailing was added to create a little more detail and interest to the pieces.
Favourite silhouette?
The mini skirt! This silhouette is playful and effortless. It is also a great piece to style with many other KIVARI basics.
