Our Mission

Meet The Makers

At KIVARI we see sustainability as an opportunity, not a challenge. It’s our chance to build a brighter future and inspire our community to do the same. We strive to consciously create beautiful pieces, seeking out the best alternatives to balance our operations with mother nature. Our commitment to you is that we’ll always be honest about our journey, from our design process and the materials we use, to our supply chain and packaging. We will continually drive our progress forward towards sustainability, circularity, inclusivity & transparency.

OUR PARTNERS

Our manufacturing partners are more than just factories to us - they’re our family. We’re responsible for their livelihoods, and their families and we’re proud that through their work at KIVARI we’re able to provide jobs for employees all around the world. We have an obligation to support our extended family, and ensure that we are practicing the best social and environmental practices throughout all of the tiers of our supply chain.

Some of the relationships with our suppliers are less than a few years old, but nevertheless we are committed to working with them to gain full transparency in all aspects of our operations. We are confident that by cultivating meaningful relationships with our factories, we can collaborate, learn and grow, to ensure only the most responsible business practices are used.

Location – Suzhou, China
Length of Partnership – Since 2018
Employees – 34 in total, 29 females and 5 males
Last Audit - 20th February 2023
Affiliations and Accreditations - Sedex , SGS, OEKO-TEX 100 Certification
KIVARI Stories - Talitha and Marisa

As KIVARI grew, and the demand for our designs increased, we needed to find a partner that could not only support this growth, but sustain it in a wholesome and ethical manner. With years of experience in prints, and access to Lenzing materials, we found the perfect partnership with this factory. They follow the ‘Base Code’ from the Ethical Trading Initiative, and have since implemented several environmental initiatives in the factory to improve energy efficiency. This includes installing LED lights, turning off equipment when not in use, and most importantly, recycling all production off cuts through government accredited contractors.

Length of Partnership – January 2021
Employees – 62 in total, 75% females and 25% males
Last Audit – April 2023
Affiliations and Accreditations – Sedex , OEKO-TEX 100, LENZING-EC Vero Certification, GOTS Organic Certification, GRS Recycled Poly/Nylon Certification, European Flax Linen Certification
KIVARI Stories – Taniana, Saguaro and Leilani

Through our drive to uncover more sustainable solutions, we set out to find a manufacturer that was more than aligned with our vision, but was a pioneer for change. We wanted someone who would teach us how to do better, show us our options and guide us through our journey. It is with this collaboration, we’re now able to launch one ‘eco’ story every month, that will have a focus on using fabrics that have a more positive impact on the environment. One of KIVARI’s biggest goals is to move our fabrications into hemp and linen blends, and organic options as much as possible and with this collaboration, that vision is set to become a reality.

Meet Jessy Tao

What’s your role? Head of production, I handle orders and make production plans, monitor production process to make sure all orders meet as required with high quality and shipping on time.

What’s your favourite thing about your job? I love my job because I constantly learn new things, and I love the great relationship I have with my colleagues.

What’s your workplace look like? It's a studio with lots of beautiful clothing and green plants. I like the break area the most which is filled with natural light. It’s a place where we can relax watching the great views through our window, while having tea and snacks.

Which KIVARI piece do you like best? I love all the tie front mini dresses, especially the volume created by the ruffle hem.

What do you like to do outside of work? I like baking. I’m currently trying to make some cookies from an online tutorial.

Who is a woman you look up to? Audrey Hepburn, because she was always elegant and caring, devoted to charitable work - like helping children in undeveloped countries in Latin America and Africa. I wish I could be as elegant when I am older. I hope to stay curious and have the ability to help others.
